The story about the woman in Chicago is quite amazing. I've always wondered what happened to the people I met on planes after we parted company.

Is there something about planes that make people want to talk to strangers? I don't think it happens that often on the subway or on a bus. Hm.

Hey Suz,
The thing I didn't write was that as I got off the plane in Atlanta, the woman who had been sitting behind me, who had obviously overheard me on my cell phone talking to my mom about being stuck and never getting to Portland that night, stopped me with concern. She was from Atlanta and wanted to make sure that I was going to be okay. She was genuinely worried about me, with so much traveling still ahead of me that night. She instantly made me feel abashed for having thought and written what I did about Southerners. But since this blog is about me being honest, I decided to post it. I'm sorry if it offended you.

It's a shame you're so closed-minded about Southern people. We're generally a pretty good bunch.
