Today, Tenaya (aka Madame Fromage) and I drove to Washington, D.C. to spend a day wandering the floor of the Fancy Food Show. Here she is (on the right) with cheese innovator Mary Keehn of Cypress Grove cheese.

(57) Philly Vendys 2011Holy heck, it was Vendy Awards day in Philly. More than 600 people piled into The Piazza at Schmidts to eat from food trucks and enjoy the beautiful day.

The BYOB cheese happy hour at Wedge + Fig in Old City. We ended up with three lovely rose wines. Two were sparklers. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer evening.

Roasted broccoli and okra. Part of a quick dinner. Scott wanted nothing to do with the okra but I love it, though if I eat too much of it, my mouth gets a bit numb.

I took advantage of the 4th of July holiday to make up five pints of dilly beans for my pantry. These are one of my favorite things. Such crunch and pucker!

Summertime dinner. Green salad (lettuce, cucumber and carrot from our CSA), garbanzo beans, tomatoes and tuna fish. Easy and good.

On Saturday morning at the Rittenhouse Square Farmers’ Market. I asked if I could take his picture and he sat up a little straighter and looked straight into the camera. Change the clothes and put it into black and white, and this could be nearly any era. I love that.
