The day after sad

Half an hour ago I was in the bathroom, drying my hair, when my mom came in and said, “Hey, do you know that you have nine comments on your blog?” I unplugged the hairdryer and sat down in the computer/dog room, to see what people had written. I was a little afraid someone would be out there, ready to blast me away for publicly admitting to unhappiness but instead I was blown away by the love and support.

Thank you all. A lot!

I’m feeling a little better today, but there are still some deep and long-standing emotions that need to be processed and released. I’m working on it.

    Hey girl,
I’m sitting here on the night before Christmas Eve reading your blog. I’m sending you positive energy and lots of love across the mountains and prairies.
Get to ready to rock Philadelphia next Saturday night. Any requests for dinner upon your return?
    Love you,
    Una

Hi came here through blog jumps. I read a bunch of your posts and saw some pictures. Somebody should call you out. You seem to have a nice group of friends here, but they are all fat, and the unhealthy dependence on your parents is very very disturbing. You ain’t growing any stronger as long as they keep you under their wings. Talk about protected lives and rose tinted glasses! sheez !

    Hi Brice,
I understand that because I’ve put myself and my life out in a public forum, I’ve opened myself up to potential criticism.

However, I don’t interpret my life the way you have. I feel incredibly fortunate to have the circle of family and friends that I have. I live 3000 miles away from my parents and sister and value the closeness and support that they offer me from that distance.

Family is your first experience with love and an indelible part of who a person is, and I am so lucky to have such good people be part of mine. Proof of that is that 97.2% of the time I’m with my family, we are laughing and enjoying each other’s company.

I’ll be the first one to admit that I’m overweight. It’s not my favorite part of me, and something I’m working on, but neither does it exclude me from having a full, wonderful life. We are not our bodies and have the right to love and be loved regardless of our shape, size and looks. It’s a right of humanity.

Finally, Brice, if you don’t like me, my life, or how write, you are free to click through to another blog. In my experience, what we criticism in others is what we most fear.

    Happy Holidays!

Marisa, what a wonderful response to Brice. The world could use a little more family love. There are no set rules about how people should be. There is plenty of room in the world for great variety in personalities, body types and what someone gets to do in this lifetime. You seem to be on the right track to finding your place and what will make you happy. I wish you luck.
